ACLU Praised Governor Martinez For Signing Equal Pay For Women Act
Albuquerque, NM – Today, Gary King launched a false television advertisement wrongly attacking Governor Susana Martinez because he’s unable to defend his failed record as attorney general. In King’s ad, it states he would demand women are paid the same as men when doing the same work, but what King fails to mention is that the liberal American Civil Liberty Union (ACLU) praised Governor Martinez “for her support of New Mexico’s Equal Pay for Women Act and for developing measures to narrow the gender wage gap.”
“Gary King’s record as attorney general is so abysmal that he’s not even making an attempt to defend it; instead, he is resorting to false and groundless attacks against Governor Martinez,” said Chris Sanchez, campaign spokesman. “New Mexicans are beginning to learn more about King’s failures as attorney general and his vision to take the state back to the days of Bill Richardson, while Governor Martinez is committed to moving New Mexico forward and has stood up for families, including working women in the state.”
The Liberal ACLU Crossed Party Lines To Applaud Governor Martinez’s Support Of New Mexico’s Equal Pay For Women Act. “To Date, Many States Have Passed State Equal Pay Laws Of Some Sort, Most Recently New Mexico. We Thank New Mexico Governor Susanna [sic] Martinez For Her Support Of New Mexico’s Equal Pay For Women Act And For Developing Measures To Narrow The Gender Wage Gap In That State.” (“Equal Pay Statement Issued By Campaign Members,” ACLU, 8/26/13)
