Governor Susana Martinez Launches Second Radio Commercial

ALBUQUERQUE, NM — Governor Susana Martinez launched her second radio ad today. The commercial lays out the Governor’s record of accomplishment and vision for New Mexico’s future. This advertisement comes on the heels of negative radio and television commercials aired by the Democrats running for governor and their allies.

“The Democrat candidates have been running a negative campaign from day one because they don’t want voters to know that the only thing they have to offer is a return to the failed policies of Bill Richardson,” said Chris Sanchez, campaign spokesman. “The five Democrat politicians running for governor have one thing in common: they’re all pushing Bill Richardson’s old, failed agenda of higher taxes, more spending and supportof social promotion — an education policy that passes children from one grade to the next, even when they can’t read.”

Governor Martinez opposes social promotion. The commercial highlights that the state is spending more money on education than ever before, while also enacting reforms that raise standards and provide struggling students with additional help. It also notes that graduation rates are up and reading scores are on the rise.

Governor Martinez says, “We’re spending more on education than ever before, but money alone isn’t the answer. There’s more to do, but we must focus on moving forward, not turning back.”

The commercial will run on radio stations statewide.
