Gov. Martinez working for jobs in New Mexico

New Mexico is more reliant on federal spending than any other state. That means when Washington’s dysfunction results in unpredictable and ill-conceived spending cuts, New Mexico’s economy suffers.
The reason I respect Gov. Susana Martinez is that unlike other elected officials, she actually gets things done and is even beginning to make up for Washington’s shortcoming, too. Best of all, she is moving New Mexico forward with her economic reforms.
How is she doing that? By cutting taxes 24 times and leveling the playing field with surrounding states. This helps diversify our economy and diminishes our reliance on Washington.
The governor’s strategy is working. Right in our backyard of Santa Teresa there is a boom, with companies investing millions and creating hundreds of jobs. Just last month, six companies announced that they would create 150 jobs there. Here in Las Cruces, General Dynamics Information Tech announced that it would add 200 new jobs late last year.
This is all in addition to Union Pacific investing $400 million in a new rail facility, which is expected to create 600 jobs.
Susana Martinez wakes up every day to fight for New Mexico’s families. I’m proud to call her our governor.
