Five Democrat Candidates Want To Return NM To Days Of Bill Richardson
ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Governor Susana Martinez launched her fourth English-language television commercial for her re-election campaign. The ad – titled “Same” – tells New Mexicans about Governor Martinez’s accomplishments and efforts to move the state forward, while all five of her opponents want to bring back the same old and failed policies of Bill Richardson.
“Our opponents are running a negative and very personal campaign against Governor Martinez because all they have to offer are the same old and failed policies of Bill Richardson,” said Chris Sanchez, campaign spokesman. “While Governor Martinez is fighting to reform education and move our state forward, the five Democrat politicians are clamoring to turn back the clock to the days of Bill Richardson. They all support raising taxes and preserving social promotion – an education policy that passes children from one grade to the next, even when they can’t read.”
Governor Martinez opposes social promotion. The commercial highlights that the state is spending more money on education than ever before, but that money alone isn’t the answer. Governor Martinez talks about raising standards and providing more help to struggling students.
Governor Martinez says, “We’re spending more on education than ever before, but money alone isn’t the answer. There’s more to do, but we must focus on moving forward, not turning back.”
The commercial starts today.
